Cape Cod Architect

A3 Architects is a full service architectural firm specializing in net energy zero design, passive house design and environmentally sensitive construction on Cape Cod. Since 2012, A3 Architects has designed many net-zero new construction homes for a variety of complicated and inspiring sites across the Cape. A3 has also completed numerous renovations and substantial additions in historic village centers and rural sites. We have a very collaborative approach to design but always with a vision towards creating spaces that work for clients, from single home owners to larger commercial organizations.

A3 Architects has worked on some larger single-family net zero homes, both modern and more traditional design, as well as some small accessory dwelling units. We have also created unique additions for historic homes originally built in the 1700s or so. All are designed to fit their unique sites here on the Cape. We are inspired by the local vernacular whether it is the traditional sea captains’ homes on 6A in Dennis, modernist summer houses in Wellfleet, or the humble shingled Cape Cod cottages and barns found in every town.

In addition to working with local residents and visitors, A3 has been privileged to work with a number of local non-profits. Our recent renovation of an historic barn for the Association to Preserve Cape Cod creates a gathering space designed for educational outreach, while balancing historic preservation and energy efficiency goals.

We work with clients from initial site meetings, existing measuring and visioning/programming charrettes to conceptual design, 3d modeling, schematic design, design development including regulatory reviews by local historic, conservation and zoning boards as necessary, construction documents including bidding, energy modeling, and construction supervision. We have utilized flood zone construction as necessary to create structures resilient to the ever changing sites near water here on the Cape.

We love playing a role in restoring Cape Cod’s historic houses, and finding unique ways to rehabilitate older homes. We also love adding new houses to the fabric of existing neighborhoods and sensitive sites. Contact us to see if we are a good fit for your upcoming project!
