Happy Summer Solstice!

a3 ARchitect’s Summer bucketlist

As architects working on Cape Cod, we honestly love all the seasons!  The fall is lovely with the bright reds and oranges of the foliage, we appreciate the quiet winter days and minimal landscape, and spring is always exciting to see the landscape slowly wake up… Cape Cod is just gorgeous year-round.

BUT, let’s be honest… Summer is the best!

At A3, we have so much to be excited for this summer- we have awesome projects under construction (lots of sunny site visits in our future) and have several exciting projects breaking ground this Fall!

A3 Architects is excited to celebrate the longest day of the year and we’re kicking off summer with a couple of our Cape Cod Summer bucket list items.

Alison’s Summer Must Do:

Cape Cod Rail Trail:

While I know it's open year round, it's so fun to be able to bike from village to village in the summer. The expansions each year make the trail longer and longer... and added bonus - there are candy shops/bakeries and general stores all along the way if you need motivation!!  Hot Chocolate Sparrow, Pizza Shark Cape Cod, & PB Boulangerie Bistro to name a few...

Cape Cod Baseball

We love checking out games with future mlb players on the Cape... such a fun summer pastime! Go Harborhawks!

Cape Cod Shellfishing: Quahogging

a favorite summer activity -- it can be hard work but so rewarding.  We make stuffies with bigger quahogs and eat the littlenecks with pasta… best seafood recipe book -Provincetown Seafood Cookbook

alex’s Summer Must Do:

Ice Cream: Have to get ice cream, my favorite places:

-Holy Cow Ice Cream Cafe, Dennis Port (the Wild Blueberry Pie is amazing!!!) -Ice Cream Cafe, Orleans —— -Schoolhouse Ice Cream, Harwich Port

Mini Golf at Arnold's in Eastham (they also have good food for afterwards)

Biking the Cape Cod Rail Trail

liisa’s Summer Must Do:

Many visit the Cape hoping for sunny skies and postcard views. But for me, the real magic appears after sunset. A drive down 6A at night loses its daytime crowd, leaving the road open and quiet to the chorus of chirping frogs, a good playlist, and sometimes the sound of my old car. Along this road, the best summer nights can be found at Sandy Neck, where beach bonfires with friends glow under the moonlight. Instead of the sun in the sky, look towards the moon and its reflection, listen to the waves crash against the shore, and I promise you will fall in love with the Cape all over again.

Meghan’s Summer Must Do:

I relocated to Portland, Oregon for my husband’s job a few years back and man – I really miss Cape Cod summer’s (they’re the best!)!

  • Get a National Seashore Beach Pass and hit up as many of the outer cape beaches as possible!

  • Wellfleet Oysters (everytime we went out), lobster rolls, &  a seafood platter (at least once a season)

  • Skaket Beach at Low Tide (We lived in Orleans when I first moved to the Cape and just love this beach)

  • Wellfleet Drive-in (love when they do the throw back movies… Jaws is always fun)

  • Provincetown Day(s):

    • Climb to the top of the monument (awesome views from the top, but also enjoy the lawn at the base of the monument- they have adirondack chairs)

    • Walk the Provincetown Causeway at low tide and have a picnic at beach and afterwards walk to Wood End’s Light

    • Dune Shack Walk (better at the beginning or end of the summer when it’s a little cooler)

    • Spend the afternoon at Herring Cove Beach

    • Whale Watch (especially if we had someone in town visiting– the later afternoon trips are great because you also get sunset!)

    • Walk Commercial Street for a little mini pub/food crawl/candy stop

We hope everyone has a wonderful Cape Cod Summer!
